Canada’s Virtual Innovative Educator Forum 2012

Canada’s Virtual Innovative Educator Forum 2012

On May 26th, we held our Canadian Virtual Innovative Educator Forum (VIEF) using Skype and Microsoft communication tools and had the opportunity to hear about all the exciting and innovative education projects taking place across Canada.  During our forum, past innovative teacher winners acted as judges, selecting the best projects. Semi finalists from this round will compete on June 9th at the second round of the VIEF. The top three projects will represent Canada as part of our Canadian delegation to the Microsoft World Wide Global Learning Forum to be held in Athens, Greece in November of this year.  The winners will receive an all expense paid trip, professional development sessions and will compete with their peers from around the world for the very best innovative learning activities.

We are proud to share that Canada is the first country from over 104 Microsoft Partners in Learning regions to bring our innovative teacher applicants together virtually and are very excited about our event. Here are some screenshots of the virtual environment where the VIEF took place:

"I think there is a great opportunity to use the tools the way you and your team did at the event.  Schools are always looking for ways to connect and we are talking more and more about blended classrooms.   I liked the model you used and feel it has potential for a much wider use." ~ Marilyn Steier, Faculty of Education at the University of Alberta

Stacey Monette"It was an amazing opportunity.  I think it is a great way to prepare people to represent Canada." ~ Stacey Monette, Technology Coach at the Saskatchewan Rivers Public School Division
